Engineering prototypes and functional parts — 3D printing in Brisbane

Brisbane 3D printing for engineers: we print functional prototypes, fit-and-tolerance test parts, jigs, fixtures, brackets and low-volume production runs for engineers and product businesses across South East Queensland. Email your STL, STEP or 3MF files and we’ll come back with a detailed quote, usually the same or next business day.

What we print for engineering clients

  • Functional prototypes for design validation and fit testing
  • Jigs, fixtures and workshop tooling
  • Brackets, mounts, enclosures and housings
  • Replacement and low-volume production parts
  • Iteration runs — print, test, revise, reprint

Materials for the job, not just PLA

PETG for strong functional parts. ABS and ASA for heat and outdoor exposure (ASA is our pick for the Queensland sun). Polycarbonate and carbon-fibre blends for demanding applications. TPU for flexible parts, seals and dampeners. Tell us the intended use and we’ll recommend the right material, infill and wall structure — that conversation is part of every quote. The full range is on our engineering materials page.

How engineering jobs run

  1. Send your files — or your problem. We also design and reverse-engineer parts that only exist as a sketch or a broken original.
  2. We review printability and confirm material, infill and any spec questions in precise units.
  3. Detailed quote, priced on print time and material. Production starts on approval.
  4. QC against the agreed spec, then pickup in Taringa or shipping Australia-wide.

Working with businesses

We sign NDAs for commercial projects, quote volume runs with production discounts, and support ongoing prototyping relationships — many of our engineering clients come back weekly, not once. If you need a manufacturing partner rather than a one-off print, that is exactly the work we want.

Precision, honestly stated

Standard 0.4 mm nozzle with 0.2 mm layers; large parts can run a 0.8 mm nozzle for speed. FDM tolerances suit most functional applications — where a critical fit matters, tell us and we’ll plan the print around it. We don’t over-promise: if a part needs a process we don’t run (like resin), we’ll say so.

Ready when you are: upload your files and tell us what the part has to do.

Engineering prototype questions

Start with PETG: it is stronger than PLA, moisture-resistant and takes a knock. Parts that live outdoors or near heat go to ASA or ABS. When stiffness, temperature or wear really matter, polycarbonate, carbon-fibre blends or nylon carbon-fibre are the step up. Tell us what the part has to do and we’ll recommend one with the quote.

Most parts print at 25% infill, which is plenty for prototypes, enclosures and display pieces and keeps print time down. Load-bearing brackets, fixtures and parts that get assembled to others go denser, up to solid. Infill is one of the first things we ask about, because it changes both strength and print time.

Our standard setup is a 0.4 mm nozzle at 0.2 mm layers, which suits most functional work. Holes, slots and press-fits can be tuned once we know which dimensions are critical — say so when you send the files and we’ll plan the orientation and settings around them. If a part genuinely needs a tighter process than FDM, we’ll tell you.
