Free 3D models to print — where to find them, and how to get them printed

Free 3D models to print are everywhere; the hard part is knowing which libraries are worth your time, what to check before you download, and what happens next. This page is our shortlist — the same sites we search when a client asks for a common part — plus the checks that save a wasted print. Found one already? Upload the file and we’ll quote it.

MakerWorld

Bambu Lab's library — the largest and best-curated free collection, and the one we print from most. Models come with tested print profiles for the printers we run.

Printables

Prusa's library: strong on functional parts, tools, organisers and household fixes, with print settings and photos from the people who made them.

Thingiverse

The oldest and biggest archive. Quality varies, so read the comments and look at other people's makes before you commit to a file.

Free and paid designs with a strong cosplay, props and decor catalogue. For detailed pieces the paid files are usually worth it.

Free, browser-based design tool. If you can't find the part, the simplest version of it is often an hour in Tinkercad away.

The free slicer we use. Open your STL or 3MF in it to see the real print time — the number our quotes are built on.

Before you download

  • Licence. Most free models are for personal use. If the print is for a business, an event or resale, check the licence and ask the creator — we print what you’re entitled to print.
  • Format. STL, 3MF or STEP. A 3MF from MakerWorld or Printables usually carries the print settings too.
  • Size. Our printers build up to 350 x 320 x 325 mm in one piece; bigger models are printed in sections with connectors, or in one piece on our large-format printer up to 800 x 800 x 1000 mm.
  • Detail. Very low-polygon models show facets when scaled up. Check the mesh, or ask us — we’ll tell you before printing.
  • Material. The right filament depends on where the part will live; the materials guide explains each, and the FAQ covers the common questions.
  • Cost. Every job is priced on print time and material, with a $50 minimum including GST. Bambu Studio’s time estimate is a good preview of what to expect.
