Large-format 3D printing in Brisbane

One machine, one piece, up to 800 × 800 × 1000 mm. No joins, no glue lines. For finer detail or more materials, we print big jobs in sections with designed connectors instead.

Two ways to print big

A large object can be printed in one piece on our large-format printer, or in sections with designed connectors on our standard printers. We recommend one in the quote, based on the finished size, material and finish you need.

800 × 800 × 1000 mm

One piece on the large-format printer

Up to 800 × 800 × 1000 mm in a single piece, with no joins. PLA, PLA+ or PETG, single colour. The 0.8 mm nozzle leaves a coarser surface than our standard printers, with a typical tolerance of ±0.5 mm or ±0.5 % of the dimension, whichever is greater.

About 350 × 320 × 325 mm

Sections with designed connectors

The model is split across our high-resolution Bambu Lab printers (up to about 350 × 320 × 325 mm per section), with connectors designed so the sections align and glue cleanly. Full material and colour range, 0.2 mm layers for a finer finish, and a typical tolerance of ±0.2 mm. Some assembly is needed.

Who it's for

  • Marketing and events teams needing oversized products, letters or mascots
  • Architects and developers needing site or massing models
  • Set, exhibition and museum builders
  • Engineers needing a full-scale housing, duct or mould pattern

How it works

Four steps from file to finished piece, whether it prints in one piece or in sections.

  1. Send your file

Send the file with the finished size you need and where the piece will live.

  2. Check and quote

We check wall thickness and orientation for a large print, recommend one piece or sections, and quote. Large prints run for days; we give you the print time and a timeline with the quote.

  3. Print and finish

Print, then light sanding and clear coat if you've asked for finishing.

  4. Collect or ship

Collect in Taringa or we arrange freight for oversize pieces, quoted at cost.

Materials and limits

  • Large-format printer: PLA and PLA+ for display pieces, PETG when it gets handled; single colour
  • ASA for outdoor pieces, TPU, multi-colour and engineering materials are printed in sections on our standard printers
  • Very large prints are hollowed or printed as shells to control weight and cost; we'll say so in the quote
  • Large-format machine runs a 0.8 mm nozzle: faster and stronger, coarser surface than the Bambu machines; typical tolerance ±0.5 mm or ±0.5 % of the dimension, whichever is greater
  • Wet weather can extend timelines for humidity-sensitive materials

How large-format printing is priced

Large-format jobs are quoted on print time and material, plus a $90 large-format setup per job, with a $150 minimum including GST. The setup covers levelling the four-zone bed, adhesion and handling metre-scale parts. There is no surcharge for size beyond that. Sectioned prints on our standard printers follow standard pricing, with a $50 minimum including GST. Typical figures are on our 3D printing prices page.

What you receive

  • The finished piece, plus a note on how it was oriented and, if split, where the joins are

Large-format questions

What is the largest 3D print you can make in one piece?

800 × 800 × 1000 mm, on our large-format printer in PLA, PLA+ or PETG, single colour. Anything larger is printed in sections with connectors designed so the pieces align and glue cleanly.

What materials can you use for large-format printing?

The large-format printer runs PLA, PLA+ and PETG in a single colour. If a big part needs ASA for outdoor use, TPU, multi-colour or an engineering material, we print it in sections on our standard printers, which run the full material and colour range.

Will a large print look as sharp as a small one?

Not from the large-format printer: its 0.8 mm nozzle leaves more visible layer lines and softens fine detail. For a display finish, choose the sectioned route on our standard printers, which print 0.2 mm layers, or add light sanding and a clear coat.

How much does large-format 3D printing cost?

Large-format jobs are quoted on print time and material, plus a $90 large-format setup per job, with a $150 minimum including GST. There is no surcharge for size beyond that; big parts simply take more hours and more filament. Our prices page shows how the quote is built.

Do I assemble sectioned prints myself?

Usually, yes. We design the connectors so each section aligns and glues cleanly, gluing needs no special tools, and we tell you which adhesive suits the material.

What are large-format prints used for?

Marketing props and hero pieces, signage and dimensional logos, architectural and massing models, exhibition and set pieces, and one-off engineering parts too big for a standard printer. See marketing props for display work.
